Calvary Convention Centre (CCC), venue of the 23rd Pentecostal World Conference in Kuala Lumpur, was dedicated on August 27, 2013 by Dr David Cho Yonggi, Senior Pastor Emeritus of Yoido Full Gospel Church, Korea, and Chairman of Church Growth International (CGI).
In the dedication celebration of affirming that “God has done WONDROUSLY (Psalm 7:1)”, Dr Prince Guneratnam, the Senior Pastor of Calvary Church said, “The CCC is a faith project in response to God’s call to Calvary Church Assemblies of God to be a Fountainhead Church.”
Dr Cho and Dr Guneratnam jointly unveiled the CCC dedication plaque before the congregation was ushered in and filled the newly built 5,000 seating auditorium. Christian leaders from 69 nations joined the members of Calvary Church in celebrating the wondrous work that the Lord has done.
At the end of the dedication service, Dr George Wood, Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship (WAGF), and General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God USA, presented on behalf of the General Council of US Assemblies of God a special recognition to Dr Guneratnam and his church for the outstanding work Calvary Church has done and continues to do.
Attending the 23rd Pentecostal World Conference held from August 28 to 30 this year were 3,465 delegates, including 1,500 foreign delegates from 68 nations. Rev. Ong Sek Leang, Conference Chairman, reported that so far this represented the largest gathering of delegates in Kuala Lumpur as well as the largest in terms of the number of foreign delegates and nations participating. In his opening address to the delegates, Rev. Ong said, “You will receive an impartation from the Holy Spirit and revelation that everything Jesus said to us is livable and doable.”
Among the key international Christian leaders present were: Dr Geoff Tunnicliffe, Chairman of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA); Dr Soritua Nababan, President World Council of Churches (WCC), Indonesia; and Dr Larry Miller, Secretary of Global Christian Forum (GCF).
The 23rd Pentecostal World Conference is a triennial gathering of Pentecostal groups worldwide organized by the Pentecostal World Fellowship (PWF), a cooperative body established in 1947 of Pentecostal churches and groups worldwide of approved standing. To date, there are 59 global member organizations.
At the PWF Advisory Committee meeting held on the eve of this World Conference, Dr Guneratnam was re-elected as the PWF Chairman for another 3-year term. Also re-elected were Dr Isak S. Burger (Vice-Chairman), Dr Matthew Thomas (Secretary), Rev. Ingolf Ellssel and Bishop Dag Heward-Mills (Committee Members), and two newly-elected Committee Members, Dr William M. Wilson and Rev. David Wells.
